Create a Data Feed v3.1

Purpose

This document describes how to create a data feed definition and a related data feed item in Forrit One CMS.

Instructions

Create a data feed definition

To create a data feed definition:

  • Ensure a task is selected.

  • Navigate to the Data feed definitions screen under Settings.

  • Select Add new definition.

  • Enter a name and description and press Add.

  • The field editor screen appears. This is where the data feed schema is defined.

  • Click Add field.

  • Set a name for the field and the data type. The data type may be any of:
    Boolean
    Complex (can contain other data types)
    DateTime
    Number
    Media Item
    Rich Text
    Text
    Collections(can contain multiple elements of a data type)
    Picklists

  • Add as many fields as are required for the schema. At least one field must be displayable - only text and rich text fields can be set to displayable.

  • To edit the details of a field, click the pen icon at the right of the row to expand it.

  • Fields can be reordered by dragging the handles on the left of each row.

  • Complex fields can be expanded or minimised by clicking the arrow on the row to the left of the name.

  • Fields can be added to complex fields by clicking the Add child button.

  • Fields can be removed by clicking the Remove button on the field’s details. Note that fields cannot be removed if they are used by a data feed item.

  • Click Save to save the data feed definition.

Create a data feed item

To create a data feed item:

  • Ensure a task is selected.

  • Navigate to the Data feed items screen under Library.

  • Select the data feed definition and variant from the dropdowns at the top of the screen.

  • Click Add new data feed item. The data feed item editor opens.

  • Editable fields will appear for each of the schema values defined in the definition.

  • Fill in the values. Fields can be expanded by clicking on them.

  • Select Save and the data feed item is saved.
