4.0 Release Concept: Developer

Introduction

Release overview

A Release is a package of content that is ready to be used in live applications

A Release is a snapshot of a Project’s content at a point in time. This snapshot can be taken from a Task or from the Approved Content. Note, however, that Releases created from Tasks can only be published to non-production environments. Consumer Applications retrieve content (using the SDK) from published Releases.

Only Approved Content can be published to production

The following diagram shows a Project with some content and a Task with changes:

  • Only the Approved Content can be published to production environments.

  • The Task can be published to non-production environments.

  • The Release is a package containing the content of a Project.

Notes

Released content is completely decoupled from Forrit One CMS – it does not contain any Forrit One-specific markup.
